Drug Abuse

A surreal representation of drug abuse, from an African perspective.

Here is an Angu Walters oil painting unlike any other. Notice the ghostly faces (ancestors?) amid scenes of chaos and destruction, all in such beautiful colors.

Remarks by Kim Possible @ Mastodon:

"Love this composition. It makes me feel the same way I felt about The Dragonfly Sea novel by Kenyan writer Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor : with an undertow of eucalyptus and mint, delicate splashes of lime and sparkles of sea glass.

"The composition speaks to me of abject pain, and also bursts with aqua and sea foam colors. This reminded me of the main character in the novel, one who battles tribulation and betrayal, and who only finds solace and her whole self in the sea, which is like a mother to her."
